WHO WE ARE

Truth or Nah is a San Francisco-based campaign providing young people with straightforward, science-backed information about cannabis. We believe that San Francisco youth deserve access to factual information without judgment or agenda so they can make their own informed decisions.

WHY WE EXIST

Young people in San Francisco navigate a confusing landscape of mixed messages about cannabis:

Schools often rely on outdated "just say no" approaches that don't acknowledge the reality of legal cannabis in California.

Social media alternates between glamorizing cannabis use and spreading myths about its effects.

Families struggle to have honest conversations across generational divides and cultural differences.

Friends share information that mixes facts, personal experiences, and misconceptions.

In this environment, finding reliable, judgment-free information is challenging. That's where Truth or Nah comes in.

WHY WE EXIST

We believe that respect is the foundation of effective education. That means:

We respect your intelligence. We won't exaggerate risks or minimize potential harms. We present the science as it exists, acknowledging what researchers know and what they're still figuring out.

We respect your agency. We recognize that young people make their own decisions. Our job isn't to tell you what choice to make but to ensure you have accurate information to inform those choices.

We respect your experiences. We acknowledge that perspectives on cannabis vary based on cultural background, family dynamics, personal history, and community context.

We respect your voice. Our content is shaped by ongoing conversations with San Francisco youth about what information they actually need and how they want to receive it.

  • The human brain continues developing until approximately age 25

  • Cannabis can affect coordination, reaction time, and judgment in the short term

  • Regular cannabis use during adolescence is associated with impacts on attention, memory, and learning

  • Cannabis affects everyone differently based on individual factors, consumption method, and product potency

  • Cannabis products today often contain significantly higher THC concentrations than in previous decades
