Will the cops pull me over if they see me smoking weed while driving? 🚔
Truuuuuuu! 📣
Indeed, they will. It’s never been legal to drive if you have been using weed; you can be pulled over and get a DUI if caught.
-
Since weed is natural, it’s completely safe. It’s just a plant, right? 🌿
Meh… 🫤
It’s a little more complicated than that, fam. While smoking weed may not have the same risks as using synthetic drugs, it's not completely safe. Like cigarettes, smoking cannabis can damage your lungs.
If consumed by teens and those in their early 20s, cannabis can also affect brain development. (There is still a lot more to learn.) When weed is combined with other substances such as alcohol or tobacco, the health risks are higher.
-
I know weed is legal here, but can youth still get in trouble for buying, possessing, or using it in California? 🤔
Truuuuuuuu! 📣
Only adults 21+ and anyone 18+ with a physician’s recommendation for cannabis can legally purchase, carry, or use weed.
Regardless of age, no one can legally consume weed in a vehicle – even if you are just a passenger.
-
Are edibles safer than smoking or vaping weed?
Naaaaah 🙂↔️
It's harder to control the timing and effect of weed that is swallowed.
Unlike smoking cannabis, edibles can kick in later or when you don’t expect it. If you eat too much, too fast, you can feel sick, and have a bad experience.
-
Is it easy to tell edibles from regular brownies or gummies?
Naaaaaah 🙂↔️
Edible weed brownies can look, smell, and taste just like regular brownies you've eaten before.
The same is true for edibles that look like candy. Consuming too much cannabis product at once may lead to unwanted physical and/or mental effects. So if you are given something that you did not make yourself, ask if it has weed in it.
-
Using a little weed now can’t really affect my future, right?
Meh… 🫤
No one can predict what your future will be.
However, research shows that if you start using cannabis before you are 18, or use cannabis regularly, you may be at higher risk for things like unemployment, suspension from sports teams, loss of federal financial aid, or lower grades in school.
